I am instructed by the Director of the War Trade

Department to refer to a letter addressed to your

Department by the Colonial Office on the let instant,

No. 62464, relative to the question of granting general

permission to the Governor to allow export of certain

commodities from Hong Kong to Holland.

Lord Emmott presumes that it is not possible at the

present time to recommend that the proposal should be

|approved, but before replying to the Colonial Office to

this effect, he will be glad to receive Sir E. Worthington

vans' opinion on the matter.

A copy of this letter is being sent to the Coloni al

Cffice.
